Audio by Nicholas B. Zeman is about audio and the information its presence or absence provides and the effects it has on a person, and its importance in multimedia with information received subliminally rather than consciously. The driving force behind the major idea is the effects it has on people, on its own, and compared to media with no audio and media with audio. The assumptions this text makes about audio and digital storytelling is that audio is often ignored or sidestepped when creating multimedia, even though it is and can be a vital component in the experience of digital storytelling. These assumptions are tenable because getting visuals might be easier but adding audio would be a whole new addition to the content, or if there is no visual, then the audio must be sufficient to communicate effectively to the audience. The main contribution of this text is the examples that it gives in the topics that are defined and discussed. It discusses different types of audio and the effects they can have on the audience when used in digital storytelling. An example from the text is the human voice, which conveys “subtleties of emotions and meaning in words by using a shift in pitch, a change in emphasis, or even the rapidity with which we speak the words” and even with an accent and dialect or slang terms used by the speaker.

Audio had many good qualities about it. It brought up topics and defined them, and gave examples to show the importance of that topic, making things easy to understand and equip. I do not think there is anything that this text could improve on. Having read the explanations and the examples about the topics of the physical effects of audio on the human body and thus to the consumer, I do believe the arguments about the theory of audio. In order to convince me, which it has, it would need to satisfy the demand for infallibility, be consistent under logic, operation, rational, empirical, and fully accounted within those limits and be restitutable.
